Our Story

Langangan was composed of the original settlements was first organized as a township of Apayao, Mountain Province under the General Provincial Law 1917. The first president was a certain Aglamma, a Yapayao.

The town was transferred to the town of llocos Norte by virtue of Executive Order No. 21 dated March 27, 1920, issued by Governor General Francis Burton Harrison. In this transfer, both the Honorable Provincial boards of Mountain Province and llocos Norte officially defined the territorial limits of the township of Langangan.

The town was convened again to the sub-province of Apayao until its final transfer to the province of Cagayan by virtue of Executive Order No. 65 dated November 11, 1922 issued by Governor General Leonard Wood.

It became a Municipal district by virtue of Executive Order No. 12, series of 1925, and attained the status of a municipality by virtue of Executive Order No. 134, series of 1929 strengthened by RA No. 5869.
